Due to her father’s job, her whole family moved to Oman where they lived for three years. McRae took up recreational dance training at age six. At the age of Eight, she relocated to Calgary where she was able to more intensely train in dance and she began to compete with the Drewitz Dance Productions.

Education

After attending the American International School in Muscat, Tate McRae also attended the School of Alberta Ballet. The school is the training center for the Alberta Ballet Company and McRae also underwent ballet training.

McRae attended Western Canada High School, eventually withdrawing to an online school because of her busy schedule. She completed high school in January 2021.

She won the Mini Best Female Dancer award at the 2013 Dance Awards in New York City and was named a finalist at the New York City Dance Alliance’s 2014 National Gala. Consequently, McRae participated in many dance competitions and was the winner of several Best Female Dancer awards.

In 2017, she released her first independent single titled “One Day” followed by other notable songs including “Dear Ex Best Friend” and “Dear Parents”. This January, she was signed to a recording contract with RCA Records.
