Alex Turner says Arctic Monkeys’ band name ‘alludes to how limited the expectations were’

According to Alex Turner, if the Arctic Monkeys had realized they would still be “doing this 20 years later,” they might have chosen a different moniker.

The Sheffield rock group recently revealed that the release of their new album, The Car, which contains 10 new songs, will take place in October.

The band’s frontman Turner recently asserted that, despite their moniker, success was not assumed to be certain.

“The name of the band seems to allude to how limited the expectations were,” Turner told The Guardian.

“If you realized you were gonna be doing this 20 years later, you might’ve had another hour in that meeting.”
